Key events ahead - Rabobank

FXStreet (Guatemala) - Analysts at Rabobank noted the day ahead and events coming up in the week.

Key Quotes:

"Today we have China’s final January HSBC manufacturing PMI, and the same in India and Indonesia, while the latter also has key CPI and trade data. In the UK and US we again see manufacturing PMIs, and in Europe the ECB’s Nowotny is speaking."

"Tomorrow has Aussie trade data and building approvals ahead of the RBA, where expectations are rising that the towel will either be thrown in (and rates cut), or the towel will at least be picked up ready. India also has a rate decision, but the consensus is that we won’t get a further surprise lowering of rates this month. We also have two Fed speakers."

"Wednesday has HSBC services PMIs for China and India and US ADP employment numbers along with the ISM services survey. There is also one Fed speaker."

"Thursday sees Aussie retail sales and NAB business confidence, as well as German factory orders and the BOE rate decision."

"Friday rounds off the week with US payrolls, the one area of light in all this gloom. However, if that means the Fed is going to tighten despite this global backdrop it still spells trouble for markets; yet any reversal of the recent trend would be even more negative. Why does “I Dreamed a Dream” as sung by Anne Hathaway suddenly spring to my mind?"

A dovish RBA should keep AUD pressured - RBS

A likely dovish statement by the RBA this week, without ruling out a rate cut, should keep the downward pressure on the AUD, notes the FX Strategy Team at RBS.
