US housing starts fall 3.0% in August

FXStreet (Córdoba) - US housing starts fell 3% from a month earlier to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.126 million in August, below the 1.170 million expected by analysts.

July housing starts were downwardly revised to a fall of 4.1% to 1.16 million units from the prior estimate of a 0.2% increase to 1.21 million.

Meanwhile, building permits, a gauge of forthcoming construction, rose 3.5% to 1.17 million units, from a revised July rate of 1.13 million.
